The new murals at the shopping centre in Bettws were unveiled by The Mayor of Newport, Councillor John Guy, and Peter Cahill, the Chief Executive of Newport City Homes in front of a crowd including children from Millbrook Primary School and Don Close Nursery. The murals, designed by the children and executed by Granville John, depict the four seasons of the year and are on the wall by Newport City Homes Office. Another mosaic has been placed on the stand at the centre, and depicts snakes and ladders. The initiative was backed by Bettws in Bloom and Bettws Communities First Partnership as well as by the schools and Newport City Homes. Musical interludes were provided by the Bettws in Song choir, led by Sian Donovan
